Being able to change the input on your RCA TV is important for using external devices like gaming consoles and USB drives. Usually, you can use a remote control to change RCA TV inputs. But do you know what to do when the remote isn’t working? It’s just following this guide, LOL!
Change RCA TV Input Using Physical Buttons
All RCA Smart TVs these days come with only one physical button that can be used for multiple purposes, such as, adjusting volume, turning the TV On/Off, and changing inputs. However, the older models will have more than one physical button. So let’s see how we can change the inputs on older and newer RCA TV models.
On Newer RCA TV Models
On the newer models, the physical button is located in the bottom center of the TV. Once you find the button, follow the below steps to change the input.
- RCA Roku TV: Press the physical button under the TV once to open the Inputs menu. Then, press the button once to move up and down the options. After highlighting the input you want, wait for a few seconds, and the TV will change it.
- RCA WebOS TV: Press the physical button once to open a menu. Navigate to the Inputs option by tapping the physical button once every time you want to move from one option to another. Now, long press the button until you see Press: Inputs at the bottom of the screen. Then press the button once to change the input and tap it again to change to another input. To cancel, long-press the button, and you will return to the Menu.
On Older RCA TV Models
The older models will have a separate Inputs/Source button to change input. You can usually find this button on the side or back of the TV. Once you press the Inputs/Source button, use the Volume buttons to navigate the Inputs options. Then, press and hold the Volume+ button to select the Input option you want.

Change RCA TV Input Using Remote Apps
Using remote apps is another way to change your TV’s input. Remote apps not only enable you to change the inputs but also control every function of RCA TV through your smartphone. However, this method can only be used after a prior setup and can’t be used as an immediate measure. Since RCA TVs use Roku OS and WebOS, you can use the Roku remote app or LG ThinQ app to control your TV based on its OS.

After downloading, connect RCA TV and your smartphone to the same WiFi to finish the app setup. Then, access the virtual remote of the respective remote app and use it to navigate to the Inputs option on your RCA TV and change the input.
There you have it! If you ever broke or lost your RCA TV remote and want to change the TV’s input immediately, use the above methods as a temporary solution. Moreover, you can also try using an IR-based remote app instead of official apps to bypass the WiFi connection of RCA TV and the app pairing process.
